Once again, the grand halls of Dicksonska Palatset are transformed into a festive Christmas setting, where historic rooms are filled with the scents, flavours and atmosphere of the Swedish holiday season. Under the direction of Gustav Trägårdh, a classic Christmas buffet is served, featuring traditional favourites such as pickled herring, meatballs, Jansson’s temptation and Christmas ham, available from lunch through to late dinner.
The Christmas buffet is a tribute to Swedish holiday cuisine, where traditional dishes meet Gustav Trägårdh’s own culinary expression. The result is a dining experience that honours the familiar while introducing unexpected elements, highly appreciated by previous guests..
The buffet is served in the grand setting of Dicksonska Palatset, where history and atmosphere become a natural part of the experience, a place where Christmas is celebrated through both flavour and setting.
Gustav Trägårdh
Gustav Trägårdh is an award winning Swedish chef and restaurateur, known for his creativity and passion for food. He won the prestigious Årets Kock award in 2010 and previously served as head chef at Basement Restaurant & Bar in Gothenburg, which was awarded a Michelin star in 2004. For a period, he also ran the classic restaurant Sjömagasinet together with Ulf Wagner. He became widely known to the general public after winning the television competition Kockarnas kamp on TV4 in 2014.
Since 2022, Gustav has been behind the restaurant Gurras on Postgatan 16 in Gothenburg, in collaboration with Stureplansgruppen. Gurras serves dishes inspired by street food from around the world, refined to an à la carte level, and has received praise for its creativity and well composed menu.

The Christmas buffet is served in the palace’s elegant function rooms, a suite of salons, each with its own distinctive character, from intimate rooms for smaller groups to spacious, light-filled settings for the entire department. Crystal chandeliers, gilded woodwork and high ceilings create an atmosphere that few other Christmas buffets in Gothenburg can offer.
If you wish to celebrate in the palace’s most exclusive room, Spegelsalen is the natural choice: the largest and most impressive hall in the building, with rows of crystal chandeliers, grand mirrors that reflect the light and richly decorated walls. Here, history meets elegance, making every Christmas celebration an experience beyond the ordinary.
